Expressing the stories of the disenfranchised

Indonesia hosts over 14,000 refugees from war-torn countries in the Middle East. In early 2019, 7 musicians from Singapore and Indonesia united with 18 Afghan refugees to conduct artistry sessions, sharing knowledge and experiences in music and more. The team performed along with the 18 Afghans in a concert attended by 200 members of the Afghan refugee community. 3 original pieces were composed and performed together by the refugees and musicians. These compositions infused ideas and stories told by the refugees and were musically interpreted with the facilitation of the musicians.
